I feel most alive when I’m creating.
Two weeks ago, Nashville held its first city-sponsored fashion week. The idea was given life by one of my close friends, Robert Campbell. He first told me his idea four years ago; an idea that came to him three years prior to that. I say all this to brag on him for a moment, and show how patience and faithfulness leads to dreams coming true—and in his case, Lexus sponsoring it with Kelly Cutrone, Christian Siriano, and a cast of others co-starring in it. The event was incredibly successful and I find myself truly blessed to have taken my place in such a culture-shaping week for the city.
The week gave me true perspective on the possibility of life. Such hope, professionalism and the idea of art infusing different cultures to inspire conversation. Operating under the title of “Music Director,” I felt alive being the group in charge of creating the atmosphere for each runway show. It’s the desire for any musician; and shows me the power of collaboration.
I love living under the bright lights.
The stage, the sound, the people. Being and admittedly open extrovert, there’s some desires I have for every night to be a party. Not the kind where people find themselves waking up on a pool table with a tiger claw sharpied on their face the next morning… ; but something that connects a lot of people together at the same time. Like the Internet only in real life.
Music is a part of my calling. I think what I witnessed this week was the distinction between passion by itself, and passion with true calling driving it. I’m finding it’s so important to trial and error; to get to the heart of whom you’re meant to be.
Thank you so much to the beautiful people of fashion week. For everyone else, know that a dream isn’t placed inside you on accident.
Bonsoir!
